Instead of so many campaigns done by several naturalists and environmentalists and several others, the Himalayan task of protecting and preserving the existing rivers in India have negligible practical results. The reason is simple people are interested only in polluting rather than preserving. They are now considered as a place to dump the drainage wastes deliberately ignoring the fact that they are once the LIFEBLOOD for many cultures and civilisations.
When a river extincts, not only the habitat of the flora and fauna surrounding it get destroyed but also but also it will cease the folk songs,festivals, the special gathering of some tribes and the serenity of its banks.
One of the most fresh water river in India is CHAMBAL river of Kota, Rajasthan.The reason is extremely funny, it has alligators and crocodiles in it, so nobody in the human race dare to explore it and make it ppolluted by their activities. Here crocodiles and alligators are the one credited to preserve the river, where environmentalists and naturalists and even the government failed in many parts of the country.
So it is crystal clear that the place where the humans have least interaction is the place which have the eternal natural beauty at it's best.Just like the Amazon evergreen forests, which have a magnificent diversity and also the Galapagos islands, where the humans can reach with some effort only.If Amazon forest is considered, there are even some places where the sapiens are unable to put their feet.We cant simply blame the British for the colonistation and exploitation done by them because as Indians we are exploiting and missusing our natural resources more aggressively than the British.
When awareness campaigns and all fails ,now only one thing practically possible to protect our valuable rivers and that is to farm crocodiles and alligator's young ones as much as possible in these rivers. Again it will benefit in preserving our country's GDP by avoiding unnecessary expenditure for the clean up process of rivers which are again going to get polluted because of our selfish behavior.So it's my strong opinion that the government would coconsider this CROCODILE EFFECT on the plans to preserve rivers. Preserve our heritage by preserving our rivers and all other natural resources .
