Nursing: The Nightingale Tale

As Picment is now concerned with an auspicious day and we are proudly telling you all of us are from a profession which is very challenging and have much stigma in the society even in the modern world. Our profession is nowadays more recognized because of the attack of the very super virus(corona) of the decade, one special person who is recognized for her work, our proud, our ever inspiration, the great Florence Nightingale-the elegant lady's birthday we celebrate as International nurses day.

And our Picment team is extremely excited to say you that our journey to Turkey have given us the inevitable chance to visit the place where the Lady of excellence had got her fame. The lady with the lamp, we have seen the Roman  walls in one side and the place the Scutury hospital,on the other side. Turkey, where she served the British soldiers and then and later resulted in developing Nursing as a Noble profession. But after her return  due to her continuous service sometimes up to 20 hours a day. She got a rare disease and she got bed ridden for 30 years which was an unfortunate thing most of us very hardly knows.

As like the life of Florence Nightingale, all of us whoever in this profession every day dealing with the unavoidable challenges and we are investing  our health and sometimes compromising our health for the sake of our patients just like the lamp giving light to others melting itself. Sometimes we are away from family gatherings and special occasions and all those happiness.Even we are not enough lucky to see the happiness of our children and some other time the nurse's children even compromise their bedtime stories whenever their Nurse mom or Nurse Dad on a night shift.

Picment team really needs to remind you one thing that most of us in the profession passively  forgets that we deserves respect, freedom and happiness in our life like every professional. After getting in the profession we usually forgets the hidden talents on us...there are great photographers, artists, bloggers, vloggers, writers, actors and actresses, singers and dancers within us. In this occasion we wants to remind you lady civil servants who is a pride to every nurses in  India. Coincidentally two of them are Alice
1.Alice Kanmony joy from Kerala and 2.Alice Vaz. R from Bengal two of them from Nursing background.

So profession is not the limitation to any thing in life. We are confined to obey certain rules when we are on duty which is  mandatory for the benefit of our clients. We need to be silent when working in intensive cares and we are not allowed to wear even the wedding ring in certain settings like operation theatre. Considering our profession as special this is an  extra accountability or responsibility but after the duty time we have the freedom to be with family, friends and societal gatherings and celebrations. So we need to try to celebrate our day. The nurses day an opportunity to take privilege to exhibit our talents and achievements to the maximum creative excellence

On duty most of the times our heart weeps, our ego hurts to deepest sea level sometimes. There won't be any appreciation from our immediate supervisors as they are exhibiting passive deafness or blindness to the outdated system. Still we survives. All for the sake of our clients we forget family issues during work which can be extremely serious but fails very bitterly to forget work issues during the time with family. On a later age we will get illnesses related to stress. Still we are in this profession because we have the sense of responsibility just like the soldiers saving the nation in a different context.

On a western society the professionals work almost the whole week for the extra money  missing the innocent smiles of their children and the happiest moments in the family when the fact is they wont get the moments back even if they pay millions.
Most of our professionals forget to smile, forget to spend time with family and friends. On this eve of nurses day celebrations Picment team reminds you to be happy and to be worthy to the society as our society demands our service and the quality of our service demands our mental and physical health.
''We wish you all success to all nursing professionals and their families.''
