International Democracy Day

Democracy, a much powerful word in the history of mankind. So many millions of people all around the world sacrificed their lives to establish their nations to be democratic. But even in this modern world, only the word exists as democratic, but the real meaning far beyond this word and its practicality is still unknown for those unlucky people stucked in many places in the world.

There are so many advantages for the people who are living in a democratic nation. From their basic need to optimal education, a democratic nation can provide maximum possible security.

If we research on the political background of some countries, the people believe that they are living in a democratic nation, but the fact is the citizens there are not getting any fair option to elect a much better candidate to represent them.

The much boasted democratic country, India, if we analyse, it is only better in comparison with some other nations who follows the principles of democracy. Still if we go deeper to the hearts and veins of Indian society, there will be endless problems.

The basic problem is regarding the updation of the existing guiding principles of Law.In our Law and Order system, there is a loop basically. It's states that ,' Let a hundred guilty be acquitted, but one innocent should not be convicted. If the court is guided with this outdated principle then not only hundreds escape, but millions get acquitted .The country will face the danger of the Fish Law once told by the Great Chanakya, the bigger one will definitely eat the smaller one.Its time to update and change all.The citizens should demand for updation of the outdated Laws

The principles of Democracy is connected to the fundamental rights of Equality. Here in India, the existing custom is a VIP in the society would get their privileges in a short period of time. Even if it is an ailment from the health service institution, the VIP had VIP treatment, but what about the ordinary person, would any institution give attention to an ordinary person even though he should be attended on priority. Is there any difference before Law between the life of an ordinary person in the society and VIP 's like Politicians, Actors and Celebrities. Where is the fair law of democracy? And also there arise a question regarding the elected representatives whether they are elected for giving service to the public or being served as  those manipulated autocratic Kings in the pages of history.

There are also much disparities in developmental activities of the nation. If the ruling party is trying to implement any developmental actions ,the opposition is habituated to blindly hinder the actions. And when the opposition comes to power, when they try to impose the same action, then the previous ruling party now in opposition will  dramatically oppose. So where are the citizens and democracy in this context. Why the people are not able to appreciate and support whatever development happens irrespective of the party and demand for more.why the people are not accountable to follow the existing traffic rules even in a democratic nation? Why the working women's travel is so horrible at night in most parts of the country.?Why most of the lawyers are blind folded before money?

Why most of the Politicians who are ruling us not taking the risk to treat themselves in government hospitals in?Why they are sending their children abroad, instead of making the educational institutions even under their area to the standards internationally. If there is a strict law in India which mandatory states that all the Government employees including the Politicians of all levels Ministers ,Members and all have to take their and their family members treatment only from Government institutions, then do you think it will take years for the government hospitals to upgrade to even international standards. What if there is another Law which states all government employees have to make their children for basic education to Government schools only, then it won't really take much period for those educational institutions to develop to highly acceptable standards. Here necessity puts the effort for quality improvement.

Actually the problem in our country is lack of updation and demand for solidification of law. On a comparison and considering the vast diversity of India, we are maintaining the principles of democracy upto an extend but a level equivalent to average only.As citizens we have to utilize our opportunity and possibility to live in a democratic nation to its fullest range.

Sometimes the failure of democracy accounts for the responsibility of citizens to influence their representatives with imposing their genuine demands for developmental purposes. For an example I could say regarding failure of approval of AIIMS in Kerala when all other states got approval of this prestigious government institution for health, an icon of development in health sector,Kerala is the only one get unapproved just because of its people's unaccountability or lack of demand or even lack of foreseeing the development it can able to bring.Like this there are so many examples of failed democracy can be seen with examples in many parts of India. Our principle should be appreciating and supporting even the minor developments and proposals for development and always to be greedy to demand for more development which enables us to upgrade our standards  of living simultaneously preserving our natural resources. Together we can build a real democratic nation from a determination deep from our souls.
