Spring Colors

"Fair daffodils, we weep to see
You haste away so soon;
As yet the early- risen sun
Has not attained his noon"
                  Robert Herrick

      These age-old lines of Robert Herrick, which I as a kid sang in my school days, bearing a deep melancholy for those fancy yellow flowers which I never saw until I reached Ireland and for the poet who adored the fast fading blossoms and spring, passed infront of me as I walked through the town park recently.

   Spring has brightened up the otherwise grey lives and weather of Irish countryside. All I can gaze out to is a golden hue from the spring sun. Daffodils, so in love with the sun's rays, rise up before me and close their petals before the sun starts fading away. I always feel that these beautiful yellow blooms have a melancholic mystery to tell us, yet a strange joy fills my heart as I watch them bloomed and smiling towards the sun.

Yellow bloomed Furze

        Daffodil is not the only flower that blooms during spring in Ireland. There are a thousand other flowering plant and tree varieties those dance with the cold irish breeze. Furze, another yellow flower blooming from a thorny bush which would appear a nuisance in other seasons flourish during spring. These plants which spread to a wide area appear to me as a set of bouquets arranged in a row to decorate a fairy wedding destination.

Dandelion

     Tiny dandelions and common daisys rise up from their hibernation under grasslands and wave cheerfully. Pink and white cherry blossoms lurch on tree tops. There are a lot other plant and tree varieties flowering during spring in diverse colours . This country side is a feast to the eyes with golden hue of the sun blending perfectly with the spring colors.
